But beneath that guarded exterior, his hands remain the same — hands that patiently sew, mend, and create. Zero has a few unique markings, and I tried to incorporate details from his original design. He also features a patchwork cape and a thread spool inspired hat. I took his personality notes into consideration when coming up with his design :) With Null, it’s a more simple concept with smeared blue roses as their patterns and to incorporate some of that magiciany feel, their eyes are a heart and diamond, and they has one of those ribbon collars. Finally with Fenix, I decided to make him dual toned with yellow\/gold being the accent color. I’m not 100% in love with it but again, it’s pretty simple. Thats the theme I wanted to work with. I imagined a line of these toys as what if fairytale concepts. I chose to keep constant winter and robin hood elements throughout my designs. For Zero, I did my best to maintain his base design, however I did make some modifications\/additions such as altering the socks for winter boots in which the shorter sock is now a boot folded over. I also altered his hair tuft to look like Robin Hoods signature feather. I added things I believed would be simple such as the gloves and the scarf, however my absolute favourite design feature is the snow goggles, I loved the simplicity of simply changing the top band to an arrow. \n\nNull also got similar alterations, such as one of the button eyes being fluffy to be an ode to snow. I enjoy the idea of interactable elements, so the ability to pull up and push down the face covering felt like the perfect simple addition. My favourite design element are the crystals, they felt like the perfect addition to the design.\n\nFenix also received a lot of experimentation, notably Fenix became an arctic fox. Unlike the complete rogue takes that Null and Zero received, Fenix was a more refined design. I really enjoyed the arrow earring pull together Fenix's link to Zero and Robin Hood. I did not want to completely abandon the oranges of Fenix, and thus I added orange elements as an ode to his design, notably the amulet. My theme is summer, bringing the story and character relationships from the brief into my own interpretation. \n\nFor Zero, I focused on his personality as a quiet maker and fixer. His tool pouch, gloves, goggles and spool reflect his practical nature and love of sewing and handicrafts. His clothing also draws from Fenix’s character artwork, creating a visual connection to XPPen’s IP. \n\nFor Null, I wanted to balance TOP TOY’s interest in unique, playful characters with his relationship to Zero. His blue and pink palette gives him a distinct identity, while his yellow patch connects him to Zero’s undershirt. The sewn flower represents Zero’s care for Null and echoes the flower pattern on Zero’s shirt. \n\nFor Fenix, I explored how to communicate creativity while keeping the design realistic for an art toy. His XPPen-inspired stylus and tablet backpack accessory reinforce this, while colourful paint stains express his creativity. \n\nAll three characters share paint stains, creating a visual connection across the collection. A small flower painted on \n\nFenix’s pen ties the collection together. \n\nOne of my favourite parts was researching TOP TOY and XPPen and considering how their identities could influence the designs. This is my proposal for the XPPen + Top Toy Global Art Contest.\n\nIt has been a great technical challenge to bring the project to a strong point for this presentation. I relied exclusively on 3D software and V-Ray for the general foundations, and Photoshop for post-production, along with a great deal of time spent on cloning, refining, and, of course, patience.\n\nThe proposal aims for a simple aesthetic that respects the scale of the product. For this reason, minor details have been omitted in favor of elements that communicate the “Neo Chinese” concept while keeping the design feasible from a construction standpoint.\n\nThroughout the process, I have tried not to intervene in the Zero or Null matrix, as much as possible, in order to preserve the original structure and character of the product.\n\nConsidering the physical reproduction of the proposals, the overall designs can be modified or adjusted without major inconvenience if necessary. I can also provide the general textures and technical information required for production, including details such as Null’s fur, Zero’s tattoos, exact color codes, and any other specifications that may be needed.\n\nAll relevant source files and technical information can be made fully available at your disposal to facilitate the physical production and adaptation of the designs.\n\nWith that, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration.
