Hey, I wanted to talk a bit about my piece and thoughts I had about making it, I don’t normally make sci-fi art, I am normally heavily into the whole fantasy thing.
My main inspiration for this piece was a place I used to run away to as a kid where I thought no one would find me. I thought the fall season would stay on theme with it being a time of change and one of the biggest changes in a person's life is becoming an adult and what that means for them. The sci-fi parts fit the evolution and growth prompt with having hope for the future but adding in the future can heal past wounds with the dog and his leg being repaired with tech.
The two girls, are different people the ginger wants to stay a child a little longer while the other girl on the hoverboard is flying into the future, she's eager for the future. Not everyone is always ready to leave being a kid behind just yet and that’s okay, I sometimes doubt I am an adult with how I act.
A bit about the background choice a little more, the bridge for instance I think it mostly speaks for itself, being a literal bridge to adulthood but just past it there's a forest in spring, a warm and happy time for renewal something I know a lot of people experience in their adult years is becoming or evolving as a person, while the foreground feels a bit suffocating the background is open and free with flowers everywhere and the little spray paint on the wall is for all who go through their rebel phase.
Happy 18th birthday xp-pen
