The vain man is one of the characters that I find interesting because he represents an aspect in us that crave validation from others yet selfishly desire to be the only one to possess the traits we want to be associated with. Because of this desire, he is damned to be alone; a curse that we are bound to end up in if we only see value in ourselves.
