The meaning of Christmas often gets lost when people are occupied with the stress of spending and buying gifts, organizing parties, finding time to decorate and “keeping the magic alive”. In the end, Christmas and Santa Claus shouldn’t be about stress and spending money. Thus, through my illustration of Santa on his way to bring gifts, I want to remind people that Christmas is only possible through love, hope and generosity. Santa’s reindeers are made up of the magical Christmas spirit that is able to lift us up and get us through the harrowing winter conditions. The child riding on the reindeer expresses the excitement to follow Santa on his magical journey through the beautiful northern lights. Yet, more importantly the child shows the value of wanting to give to others and help “Santa” with gifts. My personal favorite part of Christmas is when those I care about the most have the biggest smiles on their faces due to the gifts I get for them. The joy and excitement they experience is absolutely magical.
