We look at ourselves in the mirror frequently, every day... but ignoring that gaze that once belonged to a child. The mirror presents us with this visible and invisible, perceptible and imperceptible gaze. May we see and know that our inner child never left us. In my illustration, the mirror is this gateway to imagination... a gateway to a world full of light and very cozy. Auroras, lights, stars, and giant trees seem to contemplate and announce the breath of existence. A bridge of stars can be perceived guiding travelers between the clouds and trees.
I was inspired by Christmas, the memory of the Incarnation of love... the snowy landscapes that greatly attract my attention (although I've never actually seen one haha, I'm Brazilian), auroras borealis, reindeer, cozy houses, and giant pine trees.
In the WIP images, you can see that I started with very "rustic" scribbles; I like to explore my ideas this way, I find it fun. Then I paint and paint, adding shadows, lights, and details for the attentive eye.
