Day 12 - Sand - creeping Worm - Meet "Dunecleave".
It rears thirty feet, a third of that girth consists of muscle and sand fused bone. Black lamprey mouth with needle teeth, side spines fanning sand like fins. Armored rings sheath its river long frame, plates edged like flint, while the gut glows with swallowed quartz and iron, grinding stone to grit for armor. Each ring bears a wagon’s weight, one flex shatters bedrock ten yards down, and when it turns, veils of sand bloom, hiding the plates that do not break.
According to old legends it resides in the desert, somewhere beneath the sand dunes.
Nomads mark its passages as “quiet dunes" until the sand begins to breathe. Where it cruises shallow, the ground convulses and earthquakes ripple outward.
"Dunecleave" is derived from two words "Dune" meaning "Hills of Sand" and "Cleave" meaning "Split open".
I really loved drawing this theme. I think it turned out exactly how I imagined it to be. Hope y'all would like it too <3
Also I'm thinking of trying something different for the next theme. If that receives positive feedback, then I might do that again for a few more of the themes. Well let's see :)
