For this theme, the gentle illusion of spring, I chose to depict a woman lying on a tree trunk, surrounded by lush vegetation.
To me, spring embodies renewal: water beginning to shimmer again, flowers blooming, and life gradually reclaiming its place.
However, the word illusion introduces a sense of ambiguity. It suggests a spring that is both soothing and fragile, whose beauty is almost ephemeral.
This idea is reflected in the female figure: depending on how one looks at her, she appears either peacefully asleep… or already lifeless.
The style of this illustration is inspired by Renaissance paintings, particularly through the softness of the forms, the importance given to nature, and the idealization of the female figure.
One can notice echoes of the works of Sandro Botticelli, as well as John Everett Millais, in the depiction of a woman closely connected to nature, reminiscent of Ophelia.
