This piece portrays the cycle of life including birth and death associated with the arrival of spring. It was my intention to illustrate Persephone the goddess of spring from greek mythology, however this works to a degree of accuracy as Persephone being the goddess of spring is the living embodiment of the season, as she is youthful seemingly refrencing the coming of spring as plants blossom and insects such as butterflies go through their metamorphosis, changing from a catepillar to a colourful butterfly, and she also returns to the underworld after the season ends taking away the youth which links to the withering away of plants and the deaths of insects (butterflies) hence rhe strange crown on my characters head.
