The Last Rider
This artwork was inspired by an article discussing the possibility of creating living technology using ocean minerals and biological elements. The concept of technology growing from nature instead of being manufactured fascinated me and became the foundation of this design.
The main character is the last rider of her civilization. Her appearance is inspired by eels, reflected in her flowing hair, streamlined facial features, and agile form. The green fins near her head act as specialized sensory organs, allowing her to detect hidden currents, changes in water pressure, and disturbances in the ocean environment. These abilities make her an exceptional navigator capable of reaching places no one else can.Her mount is inspired by manta rays but reimagined as a form of living technology. Created from ocean minerals and biological matter, it is neither machine nor animal. It combines the efficiency of advanced engineering with the adaptability of marine life, representing a future where technology evolves in harmony with nature.
As the last Tide Rider, she carries the responsibility of saving her people. Her civilization is facing food scarcity, environmental decline, and the loss of the ecosystems they depend on for survival. She travels across uncharted waters searching for new resources, and sustainable solutions that could restore balance to her world.
This artwork imagines a future where marine-inspired technology helps restore and sustain life.
