One key technique that really helped me improve when drawing head bases is varying the proportion and width of the jaw relative to the eye shape. By combining the circle-and-triangle method, adjusting the sharpness of the chin and opening up the eye proportions instantly changes the character's age, mood, and implied archetype without needing complex guidelines.

Sharper, narrower chins work great for mature or sleek characters, while wider, rounded jawlines paired with larger eyes immediately give a younger, softer look.

l applied this method to six different head to test the variations in eye shape, lash density, and face width base:

Top Left: Sharp, cat-like eye wings with a slender chin profile for more mature look without making it masculine.

Top Right: Narrower, horizontal eyes paired with a longer and a bit squared jaw for a masculine look.

Middle Left and Right: Soft, rounded eyes with pronounced top lashes and a mid-length jaw line.

Bottom Left: Wide irises, and soft round features tailored for younger characters.

Bottom Right: Balanced, wide set eyes with thin lash lines for a neutral base.
