I've already done full-body drawings, focusing more on the character's head design—which is what defines them the most—but after watching the XP Pen video on the website, I took the time to explore further and try to create more dynamic perspective, as well as experiment with different facial shapes—whether more curved or more pointed.

I took my time designing my OC with this idea in mind (since I had a little extra time, I decided to design their body and outfit as well). 

Honestly, I really need to get better at drawing hands because sometimes they come out really distorted... If you look at my work, I try to hide the hands or not make a big deal out of them, but it ends up driving me crazy, and I'm amazed by people who can draw fingernails (my respect to those artists).

Use a basic model—something you’ve already learned to draw following the previous community tutorial. In fact, I find this type of outline with stick figures works best for me; then I add shapes to the limbs to define the outline or determine how much space each limb takes up. That way, I don’t have to spend time drawing the body and then the clothes—instead, I can move right on to drawing the clothes the character will be wearing once I already know the body’s outline.

I often turn to Pinterest to look for poses or designs for a character—like costumes or other details. In this case, I’ve always liked the traditional tutorials in the Japanese or Asian language sections, since they have more steps to follow and aren’t too complicated for me; plus, they catch my eye. That’s what’s helped me the most in learning how to draw a character, but I still can’t bring it to life with as much dynamism as others do.
