Submission for XP-Pen “Micro View, Macro Imagination”
Capture the Ordinary Moment, Create the Extraordinary World
The inspiration for this illustration came while I was walking around the city square. I saw a giant flower pot, and my imagination instantly transformed it into a giant turtle carrying a small café and a tree on its back.
To maintain privacy and keep the visual clean, I blurred the logo and the city name displayed on the flower pot in the reference photo.
For this piece, I tried a cartoon style that’s new to me. I usually draw sketches or anime-style illustrations, but this time I wanted to experiment after being inspired by Zaoyu Lin’s colorful works—each one feels like stepping into another world. I’m still learning how he chooses such rich, highly saturated colors that make his pieces truly come alive.
This illustration is my first attempt at exploring that style, and the process was incredibly fun. I really enjoyed joining this contest.
