【03】WISE KEY. For this character's design, I used several antique-looking keys as references. Based on that, I decided to create a character built from flat, two-dimensional shapes similar to the keys themselves — his head is literally the head (bow) of a key, and his entire body is made of aged bronze. For his face, I used the reliefs and ornamental patterns found on antique key bows as an excuse to give him eyes, eyebrows, and a mustache — letting the key's original decorative details double as facial features. For the lower part of the key, I turned it into an extension of his body that doubles as a wizard's staff. This direction came from the character's core personality: he is wise. Since wise, fantastical creatures are so often depicted as wizards, I leaned into that archetype for his design.
