【05】Envious Potted plant For this character's design, I used oriental ceramic planters and bonsai trees as references for her body and shape. I gave her a simple, sturdy form with small clawed feet, keeping the bonsai on top of her as part of her own design rather than a separate object. To express her personality, I decided against relying on external objects interacting with her — instead, I built the whole scene around a visual comparison. In the foreground, a blossoming cherry branch (sakura) blooms freely, vibrant and abundant, while she sits in the background with her modest, quiet bonsai. The contrast between the two — one lush and colorful, the other restrained and plain — tells the story of her envy without needing an exaggerated expression. Her scowling face reflects quiet resentment rather than open anger: a plant that takes care of her own garden, yet can't help wishing hers bloomed as freely as the one beside her.
