Here is my concept for the XPPen × TOP TOY contest! THE EYE OF THE YOKAI I wanted to blend the world of Japanese yokai with a fantastical folklore aesthetic, using bold colors and motifs inspired by traditional talismans, beads, and ornaments. In this universe, Zero is a yokai hunter. His eye-shaped lantern reveals hidden spirits and seals them inside. But a demonic yokai inhabits Null, seeking to take control of Zero whenever the little bear wraps around him and becomes his coat. Fenix, a wise and protective kitsune, joins Zero on his journey to free Null. He leads the way with his will-o’-wisps, while Zero follows with his lantern. Meanwhile, Null lurks behind the bamboo, watching from the shadows. Zero’s horns are remnants of an ancient yokai that once tried to possess him. His patchwork clothes echo Null’s own story: a worn-out bear that Zero carefully stitched back to life. Fenix’s kimono is adorned with protective talismans and handmade details added by Zero. The eye connects all three characters: revelation for Zero, a threatening presence for Null, and clairvoyance for Fenix. Process soon on Instagram! @aurorexrm
